Ford Motor Company Ltd
Ford Motor Company Limited has been the UK marked leader for 28 consecutive years in an increasingly competitive new car market.
Ford Motor Company are not only competing with other car companies but also to meet new legislation set by Governments in the countries where the products are produced and sold.
One such requirement is the European End of Lige Vehicle Directive (ELV) which sees all motoe manufacturers under pressure to increase the percentage of recyclable parts in their vehicles.
Surprisingly, a considerable amound of an "end-of-life" vehicle is already recycles through vehicle dismantlers. Salvageable components are first removed and any metalwork is then crushed and processed for other uses. Any items, which cannot be reconditions or reprocessed, are disposed of. |

Engineers are also under pressure to reduce vehicle weight and cose, whilst increasing vehicle life. Because of this, engineets are using an increasing percentage of plastics in their designs.
This creates a problem for vehicle manufacturers and dismantlers alike, as they face disposing of a greater volume of plastics which are not quickly and easily characterised.
In order to meet the End of Life Vehicle directive of 85% of a vehicle being recycled and 95% being recoverable by January 2015 Ford Motor Company have taken steps to address the issue of recycling plastics.
This presentation aims to show the steops Ford Motor Company are taking, throug the use of recycled components and creation of 'recycling friendly' designs.
