University)

18:30-20:00)
Tuesday Evening
20:30 in The Auditorium, Robinson College
Public discussion organised by the Royal Astronomical Society: Human Space
Exploration - Is there a Scientific Case?
Discussion Chair: Prof. Frank Close
Speakers: Dr. Ian Crawford, Dr. Andrew Coates, Prof. Steve Squyres and
Dr. Torrence Johnson
All DPS registrants are warmly invited to attend and contribute to the
discussion.
The RAS is presently conducting a review of the scientific case for human
spaceflight. The aim of this discussion is to weigh the scientific arguments
for human and robotic exploration objectively. Many people will agree
that there is in principle a place for both. The question is: under what
circumstances is each most desireable?
Wednesday Evening: Choice of Gala Dinners
Cost: $55
We have arranged two magnificent social functions. Both
of them will be wonderful occasions, far exceeding your experience of
conference banquets in the ballroom of a hotel. These are ‘not to
be missed’ functions. The price includes wine with the meal, generously
sponsored by Science magazine. Other drinks will be available for purchase.
Choose between
- a formally served ‘sit-down’ candlelight
dinner in the splendid historic surroundings of St John’s College
dining hall, an absolutely memorable evening. The menu for this choice
is available here.
or
- an informal Caribbean buffet dinner in the Hall of
Robinson College, followed by musical entertainment from a band, to provide
a party atmosphere
Tickets available on first-come-first-served basis to
all registrants and guests (whether staying in one of the colleges or
not.)
Thursday
For those delegates who have registered for the HAD meeting there will
be a full-day outing to the many sites of astronomical/historical interest
in the Cambridge area, organized by HAD. The cost of these visits is already
included in the HAD registration charge.
Daily Cash Bar
A cash bar is located in the foyer to the Concert Hall in the Music School,
near the posters. It will be open during the poster sessions, 17:00-19:00
Monday to Thursday, offering a wide range of drinks at modest prices.

Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA) will be held at The Lawson
Gallery, 7-8 Kings Parade, Cambridge CB2 1SJ, from 4th-9th September 2005.
