Having
already spent over twenty years at the heart of nuclear
research, Otto Frisch joined the Cavendish nuclear physics
group in 1947.
Keenly
interested in designing scientific devices, Frisch used
new laser and computing technology to measure the tracks
of ionising particles. The result was Sweepnik, a fast
track-measuring device sold to research teams around
the world from 1969.
