Buildings
of the Cavendish
The left
hand window of this display shows the original
plans of the Ground Floor of the Old Cavendish Laboratory
on Free School Lane. The Laboratory was designed by W.M. Fawcett
of Jesus College, acting on suggestions made by Maxwell. Some
of Maxwell's
notes on the design are shown.
The middle
window contains the article in Nature that describes the new
Laboratory, along with photographs of the buildings at the
Old Site. The right hand window contains notes on the electrical
supply at the old Cavendish, as well as the proposal
to build the current Laboratory in West Cambridge. The
current Cavendish Laboratory was completed in 1975.
